Building Understanding
Simple answers about technology campuses and the communities around them.
Building Understanding is an education campaign by Core Scientific. When a new technology campus is planned in a community, questions naturally come up about water, sound, jobs, taxes, and what it means for the people who live there. This site exists to answer those questions.
We’re Building More Than a Technology Campus
A technology campus brings more than a building. It brings investment that is expected to stay in the community for decades. We believe when a campus is built right, the whole community benefits.
Who Is
Core Scientific?
Core Scientific was founded in 2017 with a simple mission: build the infrastructure that powers America’s future, and do it in a way that lifts up the communities around it. We are based in Austin, Texas and are one of the largest builders and operators of AI technology campuses in the country.
We believe that where a campus gets built matters just as much as how it gets built. That means hiring locally, paying full taxes without asking for breaks, and showing up as a real partner, not just a company that moves in and checks out.
Today we operate campuses across Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, North Dakota, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Alabama. Every one of those campuses is expected to support local jobs, strengthen the local tax base, and contribute to the community around it.
The best measure of our work isn’t the size of the building. It’s whether the people living nearby are better off because we’re there.
